How to play Cake Drop

Cake Drop is a free 3D merge puzzle set in a patisserie's glass display case: you drop desserts in, and two of the same kind that touch merge into the next one up an 11-step ladder, from a Cherry to the Master Pastry, a tiered birthday cake. Your goal is to score each level's target before the pile rises over the red line near the top, and to get as far as you can through 19 levels in six seasons.

Length
Early levels take a minute or two; later ones, with targets up to 9,500 points, can take five minutes or more. There are 19 levels in six seasons and seven bonus rounds (you pick one after each level you clear; they open between Levels 1 and 12), and after Level 19 you can keep playing for score until the case overflows.

How to play

  1. Press Play on the start screen. Once you've reached Level 2 or beyond, a Continue button also appears: it starts your furthest level again from 0 points.
  2. Aim the treat you hold over the case and drop it: a see-through copy and a faint guide line show where it will fall. Now shows the treat you hold and Next the one after it, and Swap trades them once per drop.
  3. Two of the same treat that touch merge into the next one up the ladder, and bigger treats score more: on Level 1, making a Cookie scores 3 points and making the Master Pastry 66. Merges within 1.3 seconds of each other chain into a combo that multiplies their points, up to ×10.
  4. Keep the pile below the red line near the top of the case: the edges of the screen glow red while a settled treat sits over it. If it stays there for about 2 seconds the case is full, and Play again restarts that level from 0 points.
  5. Fill the bar under your score to the level's target to clear it: 500 points on Level 1, rising to 9,500 on Level 19. Level Complete shows your points, bonus and best combo, then Continue lets you pick a bonus round.
  6. After the bonus round the next level starts with an empty case, its own set of desserts and your score carried over. Level 1 drops only the two smallest treats, and each of the next three levels adds one bigger one.
  7. From Level 4 each season adds a twist, explained by a banner the first time: sticky treats (Levels 4 to 6), bombs (7 to 9), a narrower case (10 to 12) and drops in pairs (13 to 15). Levels 16 to 19 are themed special levels: Spooky Sweets, Neon 80s, La Patisserie and Dulces de la Casa.

Tips

  • A merged treat appears between the two it came from with a small hop, so treats lined up in ladder order (on Level 1, a Cookie beside a Donut beside a Cupcake) can set each other off one after another. Keep dropping while a chain runs: the combo carries on across drops, and a drop within 3 seconds of your last one adds a speed bonus to your next merge, marked ⚡.
  • Shake bounces every treat except sticky ones up and sideways, so matching treats that are stuck apart can meet. You start each run with none and can hold up to 5, earned by merges at a ×3 combo or higher, every 10th merge, each level you clear and each merge in the 3D Jar; a level cleared without Shaking adds 500 points for Pure Skill.
  • In Levels 4 to 6, treats with a glowing ring are sticky: they fall and merge like any other, but Shake leaves them where they are. Merge them early rather than saving a Shake to move them.
  • From Level 7, treats with a red ring are bombs: every drop you make counts their fuses down (10 drops on Level 7, 8 on Level 8, 6 on Level 9), and the ring grows brighter as it runs out. Merge a bomb with another of its kind before then, because when it goes off it takes the treats around it and you get only half points for them.
  • The first Master Pastry you build in a level adds 1,250 points at once, and play goes on. It's a long climb up the ladder, so it counts most on the big targets of the later levels, like 9,500 points on Level 19.
  • Golden Hour, Blitz and Mystery Bag carry on with the pile you cleared the level with, and the red line can't end a bonus round, so a crowded case is a good one to take into Golden Hour, where every merge scores ×3 for 30 seconds. The 3D Jar starts empty but gives you a Shake charge for every merge in it, up to the limit of 5.

Version 1.0.0 · October 10, 2026

Cake Drop returns, rebuilt on the inside and polished on the outside, with everything players and testers liked kept: the glass case, the 19 levels and six seasons, the seven bonus rounds, the achievements.

Plays better - Smoother: the desserts glide on high-refresh screens instead of moving every other frame, and a settled pile now rests completely still. - Fairer overflow: the red line counts how high a treat really reaches. A candy bar or lollipop lying flat used to count as nearly twice its height. - Two of a kind that end up touching always merge now, even if one was busy merging with something else when they met. - The 3D Jar is better: its walls are truly round (treats could get wedged in gaps and poke through the glass), a line and a ring on the floor show where your treat will land, a tap drops where you tap, and you can pause it. - In the two-at-a-time levels you see both treats you're about to drop, and a pair no longer earns a speed bonus on its own. - Random only picks bonus rounds you've unlocked. - Leaving a bonus round from the pause menu no longer drags it into the next game (no more treats falling upward after a Reverse round). - The Master Pastry's jackpot always pays its full 1,250 points.

Easier to play - Play the whole game with a keyboard, including the 3D Jar (arrow keys move the treat, Space drops it). - Each level starts with its name and target. - Phones: the case is framed so your buttons never cover it, the start screen fits without scrolling, and quick taps on buttons always count. - Screen readers hear the level, big merges, the case filling up, bombs, achievements and results; every screen has headings and named buttons; text is easier to read. - No more flashing: the Master Pastry brings one soft glow (none if your device is set to reduce motion), and the danger glow pulses gently. - A Sound button on every screen, and Back to title in the pause menu. - The Bonus Complete card says which round you played.

Also - New sound effects: a chime that climbs one note with every step of a combo, a harp-and-bells fanfare for the Master Pastry, a tune of its own for Level Complete, a soft puff for bombs and a rattle for Shake. They're balanced so the big moments stand out, and nothing is harsh or too loud any more. - No ads. Your progress, achievements and stats are saved in your browser, as before. - "An app from our studio": a card for one of our apps on the start screen, the pause menu and the end of a level.
