Website privacy & cookies
No accounts, no third-party ads and no cookies of ours. We count plays only as totals, with your consent where the law requires it.
Last updated October 12, 2026 · This notice covers the playogames.com website and the games on it. The studio’s apps have their own app privacy policies.
In short
- No accounts, no third-party ads, no chat and no cookies of ours, and we never sell your data. The only promotion on the site is for our own apps.
- We count visits and plays with a small counter of our own, run by our host, Cloudflare. It uses no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and gives us only totals.
- In the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the counter runs only if you choose Allow. Elsewhere it runs by default, and anyone can switch it off.
- You can change your choice at any time with Privacy Choices at the bottom of every page and on each game’s start screen.
- Games save your best results and settings in your browser. They stay on your device and are never sent to us.
- The home page shows how many times each game has been played, as one total per game.
Who is responsible
playogames.com is run by Olivia Renee Studio, LLC, in the United States, which is responsible for it (the “controller” under EU and UK data-protection law). You can reach us through our contact form.
Hosting
The website and its games are hosted and delivered by Cloudflare, Inc. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data about each request, including your IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser’s user agent, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Cloudflare acts on our behalf under its Data Processing Addendum and keeps this data only for a limited period; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy. We don’t keep request logs of our own.
Liner Notes’ questions come from our server one show at a time, and it checks each answer. When a show starts, your browser sends the artists you picked, so the server can choose questions about them. Nothing about you is kept, and neither are your picks. The copy of Liner Notes on itch.io asks the same server in the same way and sends nothing else; it has no play counter, and itch.io’s own privacy policy covers its page. Your browser holds the show in an encrypted form it can’t read, only while the page is open. To stop anyone copying the questions in bulk, the server counts how many shows and answers come from each internet connection over the last minute. It does this in its memory, with your IP address scrambled so it can’t be turned back into the address, and forgets the count within minutes.
Play statistics
We count visits and plays so we can see which games people enjoy and which to keep improving. We do it with a small counter of our own rather than an analytics company. When it runs, your browser sends our server a short message when you:
- open a page (which page, and the website that linked you here, by its domain name only, such as
reddit.com); - start, finish or leave a race, a sortie, a dress commission, a day on the farm, a marching band season, a round of trivia, a level of Cake Drop, a Palabras puzzle, a Pares board, a Mots puzzle, a Paires board, an episode of A Day in Mexico City or of A Day in Paris, or a game or a battle in Copperlight: which game; in Drift Kart, your race time and best lap, your finishing place and the race settings you picked (track, number of laps and difficulty, and which race of a Grand Prix it was); in Dogfight, how long you flew, the wave you reached and how many jets you shot down; in The Gilded Needle, which commission it was (a gown or a piece of jewellery), how long it took, its quality score (for jewellery, its workmanship), how the town received it, whether you took a rival’s bribe to spoil it, and, if you left part-way, the step you had reached; in Larkspur Farm, which day it was, how long the day took, how much gold the shipping crate earned that night and how many market stalls you had opened; in Hit Your Dot, which week of the season it was, whether a Friday night’s game was won, lost or tied and how loud you got the stands, for a contest the round (one contest, prelims or finals) with your band’s place, rating and score, how long it took, and that you reached the end of the season with your band’s place at State; in Liner Notes, how many questions you answered right, whether the show ended with a wrong answer, with you taking a bow or at number one, how many of the three helps you used, the points you kept and how long the show took; in Cake Drop, the level, whether you cleared it or the display case filled up, the biggest dessert you made, your points and how long it took; in Palabras and Mots, which puzzle of which unit it was, how many hints you used, how long it took and how many words it has, and, if you left part-way, how many you had found; in Pares and Paires, which board of which unit it was, how many hints you used, how long it took and how many pairs it has, and, if you left part-way, how many pairs you had matched; in A Day in Mexico City and A Day in Paris, which episode it was, how many replies took another try, how many of the episode’s phrases you met and how long it took, and, if you left part-way, how far into the episode you were; in Copperlight, which of its three wild areas a battle was in, whether you won, lost or got away, how many were in your party, whether it was a gilded pack or the Foundry Colossus, how many seconds it took and the gold it paid, and, if you left in the middle of one, how many seconds in it was and how many turns had been taken (your hero’s name and look, and what anyone wears, are not sent); how far you got; and whether you had played that game to the end on this device before, which the game works out from the results it saved for you;
- follow a link on a game’s “An app from our studio” card (which app, which link, and where in the game the card was);
- in Liner Notes, report a problem with a question (which question, and the reason you picked: the answer is wrong, it’s confusing, or it’s not suitable; there is no box to type in);
- leave a page or switch away from it (how long it was on screen, and how many races you started).
Each message also says how smoothly the game ran (frame times; in Liner Notes, also how long our server took to send its questions and check your answers) and whether you’re on a phone, tablet or computer. Our server adds your country, which Cloudflare works out from the request. So that one visit’s messages can be tied together (for example, to measure how long it lasted), they carry a random code that your browser makes up when the page opens and forgets when it closes. The code is never stored on your device and is different on every visit.
The counter sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, does not fingerprint your device and does not follow you across other websites or over time. Your IP address and user agent are not kept with the statistics. We only ever look at totals, such as how many races were started this week.
Play totals on the home page: each start of a race, a sortie, a dress commission, a day on the farm, a marching band season (new or continued), a Liner Notes show, a run of Cake Drop, a run of Palabras puzzles, a Pares board, a run of Mots puzzles, a Paires board, an episode of A Day in Mexico City or of A Day in Paris, or a game of Copperlight (new or continued) also adds one to that game’s running total of plays. It’s a single number per game, with nothing about who played, and the home page shows it and ranks the games by it. It counts only plays the counter received, so plays with the counter switched off aren’t in it.
| Where you are | When the counter runs | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, United Kingdom, Switzerland | Only after you choose Allow. If you decline, or don’t choose, nothing is sent. | Your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a), and the rules on reading information from your device, such as § 25 TDDDG in Germany) |
| Everywhere else | By default. You can switch it off with Privacy Choices. | Our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the games and the website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) |
To decide which applies, the site asks our server whether your request comes from one of those regions. The list also covers Åland, the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla and the EU’s overseas regions (French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Mayotte, Réunion and Saint Martin), as well as Guernsey, Jersey, the Isle of Man and Gibraltar. The answer is based on the country Cloudflare already determines from your IP address, and nothing about it is stored. If your location can’t be determined, we ask for consent.
Where it’s kept, and for how long: the messages are stored in Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine, on our behalf, which deletes them after three months. We may keep totals worked out from them (such as plays per week) for longer, and the running play totals are kept by Cloudflare on our behalf for as long as the games are here; totals contain nothing about any single visit.
Changing your mind: choose Privacy Choices at the bottom of any page or on a game’s start screen. Your choice is remembered for about six months, and then we ask again. If you decline, the counter stops at once and anything it hasn’t sent yet is discarded. Withdrawing consent doesn’t affect statistics collected before you withdrew it. A content blocker also stops the counter without affecting the games.
Browser storage
We don’t set cookies. We use your browser’s local storage only for the functional purposes below. This data stays on your device, is never sent to us and isn’t used for tracking. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.

The Spanish course that Palabras, Pares and A Day in Mexico City use, and the French course that Mots, Paires and A Day in Paris use, are loaded from playogames.com itself.
If Cloudflare ever has to check that a visitor isn’t a bot, it may set a strictly necessary security cookie for that check. It isn’t used for statistics or advertising.
Fonts
The site’s fonts (Lilita One and Nunito) are served from playogames.com itself, so your browser doesn’t contact Google Fonts or any other font service.
Our apps in the games
Each game shows an app made by our studio at a break in play (its start screen, its pause menu or after a round), under the words “An app from our studio”. The card is part of the game itself: it loads nothing from other companies, sets no cookies and stores nothing, and the app it shows changes each time (Liner Notes always shows Karaoke Sync, and Palabras, Pares and A Day in Mexico City always show Understood In Spanish). Its App Store, Google Play and website links carry campaign labels (such as utm_source=playogames.com and the game’s name) that tell Apple, Google and our app websites which game the visit came from. They identify the link, not you. When you follow them, Apple’s or Google’s own privacy policy applies. If the play counter is running, it also counts that you followed a link, as described above.
Links to other sites
When you follow a link to another site, your browser tells that site only that you came from playogames.com, not which page you were on. Other sites have their own privacy policies.
Transfers outside your country
Olivia Renee Studio, LLC and Cloudflare, Inc. are based in the United States, so information may be processed there. For data from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Cloudflare relies on its certifications under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, its UK Extension and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, with the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses as the fallback.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK or Switzerland), you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. Where the counter relies on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time with Privacy Choices. Because our statistics contain no names, contact details or lasting identifiers, we usually can’t connect any of them to you, but we’ll help with any request. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Children
PlayoGames is a general-audience games site that people of all ages enjoy, and we built it so that it doesn’t collect personal information from anyone who plays: there are no accounts, no chat, no third-party ads, no uploads and no identifiers that follow a player over time. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (under 16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom). If you think a child has sent us personal information, for example by email, contact us and we’ll delete it.
